GearGuiders — Workshop Manual

Field notes

What GearGuiders is, and isn't.

GearGuiders exists to help tradespeople and DIYers figure out why a power tool isn't working — and fix it — without wading through marketing copy, forum threads, or 14-minute YouTube videos.

Most manuals start from a specific symptom: a charger blinking an unusual LED pattern, a drill that won't spin under load, a battery that refuses to charge after cold storage, a circular saw with blade wobble after brake engagement. We walk through the checks you'd actually do on a jobsite or garage workbench.

Coverage spans cordless and corded tools across the major ecosystems — DeWalt 20V MAX and FLEXVOLT, Milwaukee M12 and M18 (including Fuel), Makita 18V LXT and 40V XGT, Ryobi 18V ONE+ and 40V HP, Ridgid 18V and Octane, Bosch 18V and ProFactor — plus outdoor power equipment from EGO, Greenworks, Stihl, Husqvarna, and Honda.

Manuals cite specific SKUs, LED blink patterns, and torque or voltage specs. Where a platform claim could be wrong (cross-brand battery compatibility, charger LED meaning, warranty policy), we source it from the manufacturer's current published documentation — not from memory or hearsay.

GearGuiders may use affiliate links when recommending batteries, chargers, brushes, or replacement parts. Those links help keep the site running but do not change which fixes we suggest or which parts we highlight. See the Disclosures page for details.

The site is independent and reader-supported. No sponsorships, no paid placements, no “best of 2026” lists driven by commission rate.
