Quick answer
A Milwaukee-branded M18 pack on Amazon is usually sold by a third-party reseller, so check the seller and the model number, not just the brand. Milwaukee's own M18 page says authentic M18 batteries must be charged on Milwaukee M18 chargers, and says not to use third-party batteries or chargers. The "compatible with Milwaukee" 2-packs below are outside that advice.

Milwaukee-branded packs
Milwaukee sells M18 packs in three tiers: standard REDLITHIUM, HIGH OUTPUT and FORGE, per Milwaukee's battery guide. Milwaukee says all M18 batteries are compatible with M18 tools and chargers.
All three Milwaukee-branded listings we checked on 2026-10-06 are sold by third-party resellers, not by Milwaukee or Amazon.

How to check a pack
- The model number. Genuine packs carry Milwaukee model numbers such as 48-11-1850. A listing that says only "for Milwaukee" is a third-party pack.
- The capacity. Milwaukee does sell 8Ah and 12Ah packs, in its FORGE line (XC8.0 and HD12.0), so 8Ah isn't impossible. Ask a third-party seller for the cell type and a watt-hour rating.
- The seller. For genuine packs, confirm the seller. For third-party packs, read the seller's warranty and return terms. Milwaukee's warranty page covers its power tools and lists exceptions, including cordless battery packs, so read it directly.
- The reviews. Check that they name the M18 and the tool. A page showing mostly Vine reviews and few ratings is a thin sample.
- The charger. Milwaukee says to charge authentic M18 batteries on Milwaukee M18 chargers.
M18 or M12?
M18 and M12 are different platforms. Milwaukee pairs M18 tools with M18 batteries and M12 tools with M12 batteries, so buy the one your tool takes. See our M12 vs M18 fit guide and the battery compatibility checker.
FAQ
Is a third-party M18 battery safe?
We can't say from a listing. Milwaukee's page says not to use third-party batteries or chargers with its M18 system. If you choose one anyway, look for cell details, a watt-hour rating and the seller's warranty terms.
Does Milwaukee make an 8Ah M18 battery?
Yes. Milwaukee's FORGE line includes an XC8.0 (8Ah) and an HD12.0 (12Ah). A third-party 8Ah claim is possible in principle, but you should ask for proof.
Will an M18 battery fit my M12 tool?
No. They are separate platforms, per Milwaukee's pairing of M12 batteries with M12 tools and M18 batteries with M18 tools.
