Quick answer
The cheap 20V drill sets at the top of Amazon's Best Sellers list print specs you can't compare with a DeWalt or Black+Decker listing. Before you buy one, check three things: how big the battery is, how torque is stated, and whether the listing contradicts itself.

What the listings print
We read each listing on 2026-10-06 and quote what it says. We have not tested any of these drills, and we are not recommending the unfamiliar brands.
| Listing | Sold by | What the listing prints | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| DeWalt DCD771C2 kit | Amazon.com | 20V, 1,500 rpm | DeWalt's own page gives power as "300 unit watts out", not in-lbs |
| Black+Decker LD120VA | Amazon.com | 750 rpm, 24-position clutch, 30-piece kit | Check the battery size in the kit |
| AVID POWER 20V | SHARP LION | "280 In-lbs", 0-550 RPM, 22 bits | The listing also shows "Amperage 15 A", which looks like a data error |
| DEKOPRO 20V | GL POWER | 1.5Ah battery, 0-1350 rpm, 18+1 clutch | The battery is small |
| COMOWARE 20V | TG tools | "266 in-lbs", 1500mAh | The page says 34 pieces in one place and 23 in another |
| PULITUO'S 20V | PULITUO Tools-US | 2 x 1.5Ah, "266 in-lb (30 N.m)", 0-1500 RPM | Two small batteries |

How to read the numbers
- "20V" is a peak figure. DeWalt's own page says the maximum initial voltage, measured without a workload, is 20 volts and the nominal voltage is 18. A "20V" label on any brand tells you about the maximum, not the working voltage.
- Torque isn't one number. The cheap listings print in-lbs or N.m with no label for the kind of torque. DeWalt's drill page gives "300 unit watts out" instead, and we found no in-lbs torque for it on DeWalt's page. You can't put these side by side, so don't rank drills by them.
- Battery size. The listings that state capacity show 1.5Ah. Smaller batteries run shorter, and a spare is worth checking for.
- Contradictions. A listing that gives two different piece counts, or an amperage that doesn't fit a drill, was not proofread. That isn't proof the drill is bad, but it is a reason to read the reviews more closely.
- Reviews. We spot-checked reviews on each page and they were about drills. Count and rating alone don't tell you the drill lasts, so look for reviews from people who have used one for months.
- Platform. A set's battery is for that set. If you plan to add tools later, check what platform you'd be buying into with our battery compatibility checker.
Which should you buy?
If you want a drill on a platform you can add to, a named-brand kit like the DeWalt DCD771C2 gives you a manufacturer page you can read and a battery system with many tools. DeWalt says its 20V MAX batteries are compatible with 20V MAX tools and chargers, and its page lists a 3-year limited warranty. Read DeWalt's DCD771C2 page and its warranty page for the current terms before you buy.
If you only need a drill for a few household jobs, a cheap set can be enough, and the checks above are how to pick one without being misled by the numbers.
FAQ
Is an AVID POWER 20V drill as good as a DeWalt?
We haven't tested either, and the listings use different measures: AVID POWER prints in-lbs and DeWalt prints unit watts out. Compare the battery size, the clutch settings and the warranty instead.
Why do cheap drill listings show 1.5Ah batteries?
Several of the listings we read include 1.5Ah batteries. That is a small battery, so check how many come with the set and whether a larger one is sold separately.
Can I use a DeWalt battery in a cheap 20V drill?
None of the listings we read say it works. Treat batteries from different brands as incompatible unless the manufacturer says otherwise, and check with our compatibility checker.
